 The World Games 2022 Road Closures & Security Permitters  


As we are counting down the days until the World will be here in Birmingham, Alabama. Now road closures and security permitters are starting to go up. Below, is some of the road closures and a link to the City of Birmingham's website with the complete list of closures and areas where travel will not permitted and where travel may traveled thru the area. 

The biggest impacted areas will be: City Walk, BJCC, Protective Stadium, City Hall, and Jefferson County Courthouse

**STARTING JULY 2ND ROAD CLOSURES WILL GO UP**

-Residents living at N 13th Street do not need a credential 

-Citizens will have access to travel South bound into Downtown Birmingham from 16th St. to Carraway throughout the World Games.

-4th to 5th St. on 41st St. will be closed

-Glen Iris & Bessie Estell Park will be closed between July 12 - 18 along 8th Ave. S

-8th Ave. W closed

-1st Ave. S closed between July 12 - 17th for Railroad Park

-A marshaling yard will be located for the north permitter, the entrance is 19th St. and Carraway for deliveries only. Limitations for vans, box trucks, 18-wheelers and etc will have access between midnight to 8am only, will have to use that entrance (19th St. and Carraway)

-No hazardous materials will be allowed along I-20/59 basically from I-65 to Carraway Blvd.

-Jefferson County Courthouse will be open with limitations

-City and State officials are encouraging citizens to take advantage of the "Ride the Line". A map of the transit service and times and much more information can be found at www.twg2022.com/ride 

-City and State officials are encouraging citizens to "Know Before You Go" and take a look at parking areas, road closures, and other information so once you arrive to the venue it will be an easy time parking, driving and entering the venue to enjoy the game at the particular venue. 

-The road closures are only for non-official and non-credential people.

-Pedestrians will be able to walk throughout the closures and security permitters.
